JERRY ALLISON
HOMEBIOPHOTOSRECORDSCONTACT

MUSIC is his middle name.  It is more than that...it is his love and his   life.  Meet Jerry Allison.  A native and lifelong resident of North Carolina, Jerry grew up enjoying old fashioned family sings. The Church Choir, gathering around the old upright piano after dinner on lazy, summer afternoons. And, with very little formal training, Jerry soon found his way to the piano bench...and nearly stayed there.  While for some, music occupied a minor role and the drudgery of discipline soon turned them away...for Jerry, it was different.  Music was in his blood and every phase of it fascinated him.  He sang in the church choir.  He did solos, duets, and joined a quartet.  He eagerly sought to serve anywhere and every way he could...He was willing to serve, and they were willing to let him.  He directed music programs.  He just couldn't stop singing and helping others know the joy of music.  Right out of High School Jerry joined a band called the Del-Rays.  The Drummer of the band wrote a song "Thinking of You'  They went to Copeland Studios in Greensboro and Jerry recorded his first record.  Jerry wrote the song for the flip side. He Titled it  "The Sway."  The lead guitar player was called to serve in Uncle Sams
Army.  The band then split up.
Jerry then began singing gospel music with the Singing Allison Family.  They traveled all over the country in a bus.  It was then that
John, Produced Several records for Jerry.  One being, "Nashville Ain't No Place To Get The Blues".  At this Time Jerry had joined the Band, The Variations, managed by Bobby Leath.  Jerry stayed with the band awhile and then formed his own band.  The Southern Ranglers". Also traveling with the band was Sweet Desire, Rita Aldridge and Debbie Thompson.
Jerry then signed with Star-Gem Records and was produced by, Wayne Hodge.  While with Star-Gem he did
Duets with Candi Thomas, who was then singing with the band, and several duets with Barbara Brown of Nashville, Tn.  Barbara was also on Star-Gem label.
Later The Southern Ranglers changed their name to "FreeWay".  That's when Allene Allridge and Cindy Barefoot Teamed up with Jerry.  They toured several years together and are still friends today.
Jerry continued recording with several charted records and  hits in Europe.  His last recording was with his son, All I Have To Do Is Dream.   The song made #2 on the charts.  Without You (there's no me) A big hit for  Jerry is his favorite songs that he recorded.  It still gets played today.  It made # 17 in the states, and #2 in Europe.
Jerry Toured with The Ambassadors, a Gospel Group, in the 1990's.  He sang and played piano for the group.
Jerry is now doing small parts in Movies, and has done a few commercials.
From the roots in the Southern Gospel music tradition (and the family "sings"), Jerry has discovered and can
convey warmth and depth of feeling as few men can.  When he sings, you can't stop singing.
